ICMA delivers the second compounding line for green polymers to SABIOMATERIALS

16/03/2022

ICMA SANGIORGIO, well-known Milanese manufacturer of compounding lines and extrusion systems, in particular dedicated to the ecological transition, has recently delivered a second compounding line for biodegradable polymers to SABIOMATERIALS, a young and dynamic Italian company very active in the field of green chemistry and eco-sustainable plastics.

SABIOMATERIALS, a company already operating on the market with an ICMA compounding line designed for small production batches, has in fact decided to expand its industrial capabilities with an extruder specifically designed for the technical-production needs of innovative materials developed according to proprietary technology and capable of responding to the growing demand for eco-sustainability in the plastics industry.

SABIOMATERIALS is a rapidly growing company in the new panorama of the production of eco-sustainable materials, i.e., derived from renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable sources.

The ICMA co-rotating extruder, the heart of the plant, is designed with a water-cooled motor, has a screw diameter of 50 mm and is equipped with a lateral feeder, a liquid injection system and a degassing system. Screw configuration has been optimized at ICMA's Innovation Hub and is specifically targeted for mixing sensitive materials. On the automation side, the control panel integrates all the various systems and provides complete production reports available through the ERP / MES company network, even remotely via a dedicated line for remote assistance.

"I am particularly happy that ICMA can contribute to the development of SABIOMATERIALS, a very innovative and dynamic Italian company, led by a team with great technical skills and a vision of the future starting from its founder Alessandro Carfagnini" commented Giorgio Colombo, President of ICMA, who adds “Green materials are  in great ferment driven by the collective awareness for an eco-sustainable society, and ICMA is at the forefront with its advanced co-rotating extruders and associated technology for successful new developments".

"With the new extruder we will produce materials from the TERRALIX® and BIODURA® range" commented Alessandro Carfagnini "having the solid expertise of ICMA at our side gives us a great confidence to grow and keep pace with the demand for eco-sustainable and high-performance materials that the ecological transition requires ".
